Who wouldn't want to make $1000/month with their blog?

Answer: Those who already make more than $1000/month with their blog.

But that's not me.

I don't talk about money much because. Well. I ain't got any. My blog brings in about as much money in a month as I spend in a couple days - on a budget. I can't say I try very hard to increase monitization, because that would be lying (which I never do).

But that's all about to change. And as a catalyst to that decision, I'm joining the 1000-1000 Blog Challenge. It's a challenge, run by Tood of Todd's Wanderings and is really just a motivating forum where those wishing to make the jump to $1000 and 1000 page-views a month can congregate, chat blogging (NERDFEST 2011!) and share info and advice. If you're a travel blogger under the threshold, I encourage you to join and help a brutha out!

I am in a strange place with my blogging goals. I always assumed traffic=$ which I have found out the hard way is not the case. I spent all my time/resources bringing in traffic. But I'm not rich yet. At almost 3000 page-views/month, I'm well over the 1000 milemarker, but still find myself earning nickels and dimes instead of Benjamins and Williams (McKinley, duh, $500 bill anyone?).

So ya, I'm ready for the challenge.
